BABYFOOD : the Washington-based Environmental Working Group commissioned lab test of 8 baby foods manufactured by industry leaders. Some sixteen different insecticides were discovered, including 3 cancer agents ( cancer-causing agents ), 5 possible cancer causing agents, 8 neurotoxins, 5 endocrine disrupters ( which can mimic or meddle with hormones ) and 5 extremely perilous ‘toxicity one’ chemicals. Over 50% of the examples 53 p.c had noticeable levels.

STRAWBERRIES : according to a 1993 study, strawberries are the most heavily poisoned fruit or vegetable in the States. The picture isn’t different in other nations.

RICE : a fantastic seventy eighty p.c of the planet’s calories come from rice. Because rice allergies are practically non-existent, rice is a first ingredient in baby cereals and nibbles. Both water-soluble herbicides are used on rice, which is affecting not only buyer health, but also our ground-water.

OATS AND OTHER GRAINS : oats are a basic grain in crop revolution, and they are utilised by farmers to maintain soil health and to smash pest cycles. However, studies have now revealed that illegal chemical residues are present in numerous oat products. All cereals have small grains, meaning that they absorb more agrochemicals per weight.

MILK : BST, antibiotics, expansion hormones, GMOs in dairy feed. Always select organic.

CORN : about fifty p.c. of all insecticides, by weight, are applied to corn in America. While corn has only five p.c of the insecticide contamination of strawberries, it is in a massive variety of different products and is a diet staple in the West and in many poor areas if the globe.

BANANAS : poisonous pesticides used during banana production include benomyl ( that has been associated with birth defects ) and chlorpyrifos ( a neurotoxin ). In Costa Rica, a major banana exporter, only five per cent of cultivated land is taken up with bananas, but they really account for 35 p.c. of the nation’s total imports.

GREEN BEANS : the US Environmental Protection Agency has registered more than sixty insecticides to be used on green beans, including neurotoxins and endocrine ( hormone ) disrupters.

PEACHES : a Food and Drug Administration study in the USA cited peaches for better-than-average rates of illegal insecticide violations ( five p.c of the crop was poisoned ). Peaches are heavily sprayed with the deadly insecticide pronamide.

APPLES : domestic US apples have more than sixty five % as much insecticide contamination as strawberries, and that is after the heavily publicised 1980’sUS battle that banned use of the carcinogenic expansion regulator Alar. Some 48 insecticides are frequently used on apples.

WASHING DETERGENTS : the majority of these are an ecological nightmare, containing phosphate that inspire the expansion of algae, which is choking our waterways and slaughtering local plant, sea and animal life. Shop for detergents containing sodium carbonate or sodium citrate instead.

Good article… I’ve actually been a vegetarian for some time now, so I’ve been eating organic foods for a while. Either way, it’s always good to see more awareness out there and to know that other people can appreciate the environment as much as I do.
